McKinsey & Company recently released this article https://www.mckinsey.com/business-functions/mckinsey-digital/our-insights/the-cio-agenda-for-the-next-12-months-six-make-or-break-priorities about what priorities CIO’s should be focused on for the next 12 months. I was left thinking:
“Hell, there isn’t anything here that any decent CIO, CTO, CDO or Executive Manager of IT I know, wasn’t already doing pre-pandemic. Are CXO’s REALLY that beholden to existing legacy tech and marching out of sync with the business?”
It’s time’s like this I’m thankful in leading a forward thinking business like Inhabit https://www.inhabitgroup.com who take opportunity enablement, agility, cost containment and scalability seriously with us deploying Azure Active Directory in 2012. That’s 9 years ago.
IaaS, PaaS, SaaS are line items treated by our Finance Group as enablers and treated seriously, with interest on where the data lives, who owns it and how are we monetising it.
Business only getting around to this now, ask yourself this:
- How much has this cost you in agility and speed?
- What are the opportunities you have lost in that time?
- What are your competitors doing?
- What are YOU doing?
